The Raritan Valley Line runs west from Newark Penn Station through Union, Cranford, Westfield, Plainfield, Somerville and Raritan to High Bridge, with most service ending at Raritan.
It is a diesel line. Almost all trains terminate at Newark Penn Station, where you change for New York Penn Station or PATH; a limited number of off-peak trains run through to New York. The western stations beyond Raritan see only a few trains a day.
