Terms and Conditions

The important part in one line: this is an unofficial reference, so check with the operator before you travel.

What this site is

Commuter Lines is a free reference for commuter rail schedules, fares and trip times across the LIRR, Metro-North, NJ Transit and PATH networks. It is published as information, and using it means you accept these terms.

It is not an official source

Commuter Lines is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, operated by or connected to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, NJ Transit, or the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Those operators are the authority on their own schedules and fares. Where this site and an operator disagree, the operator is right.

Accuracy and what we cannot promise

Every figure here is computed from data the operators publish, and we correct errors quickly once they are confirmed. But the data is a snapshot, refreshed weekly. It cannot know about today's delays, cancellations, track changes, weekend engineering work, holiday timetables or a fare revision announced this morning.

Confirm with the operator before you travel. Do not rely on this site alone for a trip that matters, and check the operator directly for anything time-critical.

The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site. That includes a missed train, a missed connection, a missed appointment, a fare that differed from what is shown, or any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Data and intellectual property

Schedule and fare data originates with the respective operators and is used as published. Those agencies retain all rights in it, and their names and logos are their trademarks. Naming them here is descriptive, to say which network a page covers, and does not imply any endorsement.

The site's own design, written text and the way the data is organised belong to Commuter Lines.

You may link to any page freely, quote short passages with attribution, and use the information for personal trip planning. Please do not scrape the site at volume or republish it wholesale. The underlying schedule feeds are public, so take them from the source instead. See data sources for where every feed comes from.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorised access to the server, or use automated tools in a way that degrades service for other people.

Changes and governing law

These terms may change. The date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
