The Port Washington Branch is the one LIRR branch that does not pass through Jamaica. It runs from Penn Station and Grand Central Madison through Woodside, then Flushing Main Street, Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Great Neck, Manhasset and Plandome to Port Washington.
It is electrified and self-contained, with frequent service all day, and Mets-Willets Point is served on event days. Because it bypasses Jamaica, there is no across-the-platform connection to Brooklyn: Atlantic Terminal riders change at Woodside or in Manhattan.
