North Jersey Coast Line

The North Jersey Coast Line runs from New York Penn Station and Hoboken down the Northeast Corridor to Rahway, then along the Raritan Bay and the Jersey Shore through Perth Amboy, Matawan, Red Bank and Long Branch to Bay Head.

It is electrified as far as Long Branch, so trains from Manhattan run through to there; south of Long Branch the line is diesel and a change at Long Branch is normal. Between Newark Penn and Rahway it shares tracks with the Northeast Corridor, so those stations carry both lines' trains. Summer weekends bring heavier service for the beaches.
