The City Terminal Zone serves 9 stations on LIRR, in fare zones 1–3. There are 24 station pairs with direct service along it. Pick a station for its full schedule, fares and destinations.
The City Terminal Zone is the LIRR's name for the stations inside New York City that every branch feeds into: Penn Station, Grand Central Madison and Atlantic Terminal, plus Hunterspoint Avenue, Long Island City, Woodside, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Jamaica.
It is not a branch with its own trains. Every train from Long Island ends in the zone, so a trip between two City Terminal Zone stations is usually the tail end of a longer run. Jamaica is the hub where the Babylon, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma, Long Beach, Far Rockaway, Hempstead and Montauk branches meet the three Manhattan and Brooklyn terminals. Only the Port Washington Branch bypasses it.
Fares within the zone are the lowest on the railroad: Penn Station, Grand Central Madison, Atlantic Terminal and the inner Queens stations are zone 1, and Jamaica is zone 3.
